We are four women from different walks of life, united by one mission: to improve the lives of street dogs in the Western Balkans and restore dignity to as many street animals as possible! Animal rights activists, each with her own path, but the same goal!
What began as an online acquaintance and occasional help quickly turned into a deep friendship and a shared goal!
We want to help, fast, efficient, appropriate to the situation, sustainable, meaningful and especially: TOGETHER!
Each of us had previously rescued dogs on our own, but we realized that together we could achieve much more. So we pooled our resources, skills, and experience and officially founded PAWCAHONTAS - PROTECTORS OF DOGS!
Obwohl im Sommer 2025 erst gegründet, haben wir starke lokale Partnerschaften aufgebaut, Rettungsaktionen gestartet und in der Region mit nachhaltigem Tierschutz begonnen.

We currently have approximately 40 dogs in our care - in a wide variety of forms. BECOME PART OF OUR STORY!
Besides meaningfulness, speed and excellence, we believe that true animal welfare is based on three fundamental principles:
Every animal deserves respect, compassion, and care. Every animal deserves respect, compassion, and care, at least to receive medical care, have food, a dry place to sleep, to grow old in peace and dignity, and to die loved.
Our mission goes beyond rescuing individual dogs. We rely on long-term solutions such as education, castration of stray animals and feeding them to bring about lasting change.
